The Lectisternia is the festival of the great Roman trinity of Jupiter (Zeus), Juno (Hera), and Minerva (Athena) — the king, the queen, and their wisest advisor. The Romans believed these three watched over their state and their empire, and commanded that temples to them be set up in prominent places in most of their tributary states.

Mid-September is a good time to get involved in politics in America today: with elections in November, a lot of candidates need volunteers. It's also a great time of year to begin to examine a candidate's positions, and figure out who you're going to vote for. In ritual, alone and with friends, reflect on the benefits of good government and the perils of bad government; spend some time and send out some energy in service to the benefits of liberty and good leadership.
